Thanksgiving in the Woods... and a Porcupine

Oh Hi it's Guinness.  Yeah, we haven't been doing much this fall except staying at Crick Hollow--my dog house in the woods!

As you can see it is my very favorite place in the whole world.  Us Wolfies are a sensitive breed and best just to be in the peace and quite with our humans.  Sigh...here I am in blissful harmony.

This is my hole.  I dig a little more each time.  I started my hole back in 2008.  It is where I like to nestle in.  The humans  all trip over it.  But it is my spot.  So there is not much to be done.

Maggi is more of a guard dog and prefers the front door.  I do not guard the camp at all.  I am sound asleep in my hole.  Good thing Maggi has such sharp hearing.  She can hear everything in the woods and gives us lots of notice.  Good girl Maggi.  More time for me to relax.....zzzzzz

This year I was happy because Thanksgiving was here and everyone came--can you spot gramps?

And here we are chilling at camp.

I forgot to tell you my friend Piper got into a porcupine but she is ok now. Remember when I did the same thing?  Gulp  hopefully she learned her lesson.  Til next time--love Guinny

Missing Groucho

Hi It's Maggi!  We are having a wonderful summer!

Our friend found this baby racoon, don't worry, he went to a sanctuary--but guess who it reminded us of?

Our old buddy Groucho.  Boy do we miss him.

It seems that after we lost him our blog was lost too.  We had no more funny stories to tell.  Our heart wasn't in it--we lost our comic relief, and our buddy.

But we were out on this walk the other day, and we felt Groucho ALL around us!  We really and truly did.  My human said it overwhelmed her she felt he was right there with us.  And of course it is true.

That is how you keep everyone alive within your heart.  You simply bring them back with you.

Or if they present themselves to you in some form or another, whether it is a feeling, or a hunch or a memory...well --you open your heart to it, and accept it for what it is.

And although you can't turn back the clock...you can always live in the moment--no matter who decides to show up!  Thanks for reading.  Love Maggi.

She's Called Nova Scotia

Nothing says Nova Scotia better than Rita MacNeil.  We are devistated to lose Nova Scotia's first lady of song. God bless you Rita.  Your music lives forever beneath our bones and in our hearts.

Long Winter Gone

Guinness here--those last few weeks of winter were rough!  All hope was lost that Spring would ever come!

But now I see the ice is melting--and the little brook is flowing again with sweet, fresh water from the North Mountain.
And soon the grass will be green again!

And all the animals will be out to pasture! They will not need special treats.

And the days will be long and lazy once again.

Little calfs will kick up their heals!
Horses will prance on the horizon.

And it will be a long time before we ever have to worry about winter again.
